After 24 years, we have decided to change the kitchen in our 3 bedroom x 3 bathroom cottage, Endeavour!
Firstly, let’s have a look at the kitchen before …
A couple of things have been changed in the second photo, but not much!
WHY DID WE DECIDE TO CHANGE IT?
As you can see, the old kitchen had way too much pine, the bench tops were marked and scratched, so we decided to replace the kitchen for something a bit more modern.
However, when you have a rustic cottage and you want to build a modern kitchen , you have to be really careful and try to blend things in with the surrounding rooms, as it could look a bit out of place.
The process …
First of all we had to think about what colours and materials would best suit the cottage and where things should go.
It is so important to do your research beforehand and perhaps get some inspiration from other places and sites. You will more than likely change your mind a few times, but eventually you will figure out what you want it to look like.
Once you have the idea, you just need to organise a really good team! We have decided to get help from Against the Grain, a cabinet making business based in Denmark, Western Australia.
..STEP ONE..
After emptying all the drawers and cabinets, our carpenter has dismantled the entire kitchen
..STEP TWO..
Cabinets and oven have gone in - For all cabinetry we have picked a warm white, in order to brighten up the room a little!
..STEP THREE..
Bench top and island bench have been installed! The kitchen is now starting to take shape!
It is only missing a few appliances (dishwashing machine and microwave), splashback, rangehood and the walls will need to be painted white.
Stone bench top / colour: 4330 Ginger
handles: wrought iron handles (to keep it a little rustic)
EXCITED TO SEE THE FINAL RESULT?
Here it is!!
I hope you like it as much as we do :)
